Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Hafizul Shikdar was born on October 2, 1995, to parents Abu Bakar Sikdar and Habiba Shefali. Before his death, Hafizul Shikdar drove an auto-rickshaw. His monthly income was 15,000 taka. Hafizul Shikdar's wife's name is Aisha Begum. He has two children aged 3 and 2 years. Also, his wife Aisha Begum is expecting a 7-month-old child. Hafizul Shikdar committed a difficult wrongdoing in the eyes of the autocratic government's sycophants and killer forces. His only crime was that when transportation workers were taking their vehicles to safe places in fear of their lives amidst Awami League attacks, he was helping to send injured and killed students and citizens to hospitals by his CNG in the heated situation.
Context of Martyrdom
The Awami League was illegally in power from 72 to 75, 96 to 2001, and 2008 to 2024. Upon coming to power, they spread various injustices including partisanship, looting, money laundering, establishment of injustice, and terrorist activities. They made the country a non-functional state by holding the people hostage. In 74, a terrible famine started in the country due to the looting by Mujib MPs and ministers. In the subsequent years of the autocratic Hasina government, the level of oppression became so intense that jail-oppression, disappearances, and murders started if the government was criticized. Due to the anti-Islamic activities, injustice, disappearances, murders, and women's oppression of the ruling party, and unable to tolerate the criticism of the scholars, a terrible oppression started on Islamic individuals.
To solidify power, hundreds of scholars and commentators were disappeared and imprisoned. It reminds of the oppression of the Pharaoh of history or the Nazi forces. In such a situation, although the conscious common people of the country did not get an opportunity to say anything against the oppression, they had intense hatred in their minds. The public was waiting for the time, which was seen in the anti-quota movement. The quota system was canceled in 2018 in the face of the movement by Sheikh Hasina. She continued the recruitment process of workers by reinstating party quotas to solidify her power, which increased public anger. The quota cancellation movement turned into a mass movement. The student public movement turned from anti-quota to a 9-point movement. Then it turned into a one-point movement. On August 1, Sheikh Hasina banned Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir. They understood that Jamaat and Shibir workers were actively involved in this movement. She ordered the police to carry out genocide. On August 4, unarmed students and the public everywhere stood up against the forces equipped with state-of-the-art weapons. The autocratic government realized that danger was imminent. Army Chief General Wakar came forward to save Sheikh Hasina and her hated forces. He gave them the opportunity to leave the country. Although Hasina and her terrorists fled, according to the previous instructions, the killer police on the streets continued brutally firing on the public.
How He Became a Martyr
On July 20, the killer Hasina's police became aggressive in student-public protest meetings. They started killing students with state-of-the-art weapons. Although the students gave their lives, they stood up. Hafizul Shikdar came forward in support of the students. He was helping the injured and killed students. His presence was noticed by the killer BGB. On July 20, at 3 pm, the BGB directly shot and killed him. Locals took him to Mugda Medical. When taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead. The family had to struggle a lot to collect his body. They had to go to different police stations every time. The night deepened, but the family was not given his body due to police restrictions. The next day, his body was handed over stating that it was a natural death. When the news of Hafizul Shikdar's death spread in Pirojpur, mourning started in his home and area. After the funeral at Badda Nama Para graveyard the next day, he was buried over there.
How is His Family Doing?
After Hafizul's death, his family is seeing darkness in their eyes and faces. His grieving family is worried about the future of his two innocent children and unborn child.
