Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative
Shaheed Abdullah Al Mahin was born on July 11, 2008, to Jamil Hossain Sohel and Samira Jahan Muni. His ancestral home is in Purohit Para village, under Charpara Union, Kotwali Thana, in Mymensingh district. Mahin was a student by profession. He studied at the National Institute of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, where he was a first-semester diploma student in the CSE department. Mahin was extremely bright in his studies.
Mahin was the only child of his parents. His father, Jamil Hossain Sohel, worked abroad for a long time in Singapore. After returning home, he was again preparing to go to Romania. But due to the untimely death of his only son, he decided not to leave the country. On the other hand, Mahin's mother, Samira Jahan Muni, has not eaten anything for five days due to the death of her only child. As a result, she has become seriously ill. Mahin's parents are now destitute and helpless position after losing him.
How Mahin Became a Martyr:
The student-people's movement against discrimination, demanding the realization of their 9-point demands, stirred up the roads of Dhaka and the entire country. People from all walks of life, from students to parents, spontaneously participated in the movement, expressing solidarity.
The day was August 4, 2024. Uttara Azampur Mor was turbulent with the anti-discrimination movement. Mahin was there; a courageous young man who went with dreams in his eyes to stand against discrimination. Amidst the chase and counter-chase between the police and the Chhatra League, chaos spread. At one point in the heated movement, the police and the infamous Chhatra League cadres opened fire indiscriminately. A bullet entered Mahin's left eye and penetrated his brain. That moment seemed to bring a terrible message of destruction for him.
Locals quickly took the bleeding Mahin to a local hospital. But there was no place for him there. There was no one to even give him first aid. After much effort, he was admitted to another hospital. There, he fought with death in the ICU for five long hours, but to no avail. Mahin's soul flew away to an unknown destination. Before his death, he repeatedly uttered his mother's name. He said, 'My mother's name is Muni.' This seemed to be his last word, a cry from the heart!

The final farewell of a fresh life was written on the bloody pages of history. His parents' aspiration is that Allah will do justice to the killers of Shaheed Abdullah Al Mahin and that Allah will accept Abdullah Al Mahin as a guest in Paradise.
Mahin's aunt said, "Mahin had breakfast in the morning. He fried eggs himself and left the house for the movement. His parents did not agree to let him go to the movement, so he secretly left the house. He had a good relationship with everyone, neighbors and friends alike."
