Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Shaheed Amirul Islam was born on May 6, 1997, in Chhalimpur village, Trishal Union, Mymensingh district. His father's name was the late Jafar Ali, and his mother's name was the late Hajera Khatun.
By profession, Shaheed Amirul Islam was a muezzin and a fruit seller. He served as a muezzin at the Uttara Azampur Kachabazar Railgate Mosque and sold fruit in the market for the rest of the day to manage his livelihood.
Shaheed Amirul Islam's family includes his wife and three children: two daughters and one son. The eldest daughter, Tuya, is 4 years old, the middle daughter, Tusha, is two and a half years old, and his only son, Muhammad Muaz, is 1 year old.
His wife is disabled, making it difficult for him to raise his young children. Now, with his death, his wife and children are in dire straits. Moreover, as the sole breadwinner of the family has been killed, the misery of his helpless wife and young children knows no bounds.
It is to be noted that Shaheed Amirul Islam was an active worker of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
How Amirul Islam Became a Martyr:
The entire country was then turbulent with the anti-discrimination student-people's movement. After Abu Sayeed was martyred in Rangpur, many people were being martyred every day by the bullets of the police and Awami League activists. The student movement and struggle across the country were increasing in intensity.
One such day of struggle was July 18, 2024. On this day, Shaheed Amirul Islam discussed the financial situation with his family around three o'clock in the afternoon. After that, he was walking on the streets with the protesting students at the Uttara BNS Center. On one side, the innocent students were chanting slogans, and on the other side, the police force, nurtured by the autocratic killer Hasina, was stationed.
At around 6:30 PM, this police force suddenly opened fire on the students' procession. Two bullets fired by the vicious police severely injured Shaheed Amirul Islam. One bullet entered through his eye and exited through his head, and the other bullet pierced his mouth and lodged inside his head.
In this condition, he called his home three times in a row by his mobile phone, but the calls were not received. Then he fell into the lap of death. When the family saw his call, they called his number many times, but he could not be found. Since then, his family frantically searched for him all over Dhaka city. But he could not be found for next three days.
Finally, on July 21, his body was found in the morgue of Dhaka's Suhrawardy Medical College. Despite repeated attempts to take the body, his family was subjected to extreme harassment by the medical authorities.
More Information About Shaheed Amirul Islam:
As Shaheed Amirul Islam was an active worker of Jamaat-e-Islami, his life was illuminated by the ideals of Islam. Besides this, as he was the muezzin of the mosque, he never missed praying five times a day in congregation. He built his own life according to Islamic ideals and also raised his children according to Islamic ideals and rules.
He regularly participated in various meetings and programs of Jamaat-e-Islami. He tried his best to introduce Jamaat-e-Islami an ideal Islamic political organization. He used to try to bring those who were drifting with the tide of the times to the right path of Islam through Da'wah work. He tried to convince the heedless servants of Allah to understand the purpose of Almighty Allah’s creation of mankind. He called upon people to remain steadfast on the path of Allah shown by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Regarding Shaheed Amirul Islam, his uncle, Mohammad Ali Hossain, said, "Shaheed Amirul Islam was one of the good people of the village. He was always a favorite of the villagers. He participated in various social works. He spoke to everyone with a smile."
Shaheed Amirul Islam, who served as a muezzin at the Azampur Kachabazar Railgate Mosque in Uttara, Dhaka city, found it very difficult to provide for his wife and three children with what he received. So, when he had time, he would do fruit business for extra income. With this combined effort, he was struggling to run his family by the grace of Allah Ta'ala.
Amirul had a very cordial relationship with the worshipers of the Azampur Kachabazar Railgate Mosque. He was a man of good character. This man, who was a favorite of the villagers, was barely managing his days with his disabled wife and three children. But in the '24 anti-discrimination movement, the family of the sole breadwinner suddenly plunged into darkness. The whole village is saddened by the death of Shaheed Amirul Islam. No one could accept that such misfortune would befall a good-hearted man. Shaheed Amirul Islam's family and the villagers demand a fair trial for his death.
Recommendations for Assistance to the Martyr's Family:
