Md. Zubair Ahmed

July 20, 2024, was one of the most important days of Zubair’s life. On that day, he took part in an anti-discrimination student movement, standing firmly against injustice. Without informing anyone at home, he left and joined the protesting students at Koltapara. His main goal was to dedicate himself to the anti-discrimination movement and courageously face injustice.
During the protest rally at Koltapara, police opened fire indiscriminately on the students. Around 12 noon, Zubair was shot in the chest; the bullet entered from the right side of his abdomen and exited from the other side. His classmates quickly rescued him and took him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, where despite all efforts, he passed away at 1:30 PM.
Legacy and Recognition
From an ordinary student to a glorious martyr, Zubair Ahmed etched his name in the movement for justice. His death cast a shadow of mourning over the entire village. Students and the general public acknowledged his sacrifice and demanded state honors for him. After his martyrdom, his classmates continued the movement until the end.
Zubair’s uncle recalled,
“He was a very gentle and peaceful boy. He never got involved in fights or disputes. He was an active and regular member of the movement. He was in the front row of the rally when he was shot.”
Zubair’s father said,
“He was a naturally good boy. He had good relationships with his friends. He was very intelligent and memorable.”
