Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Shifat Ullah was born in Uttar Charkaona village, Jangalia Upazila, Kishoreganj, one of Bangladesh's districts known for its natural beauty. Shifat Ullah came from a family of religious scholars; both his father and grandfather were scholars. His father, Hafez Maulana Nuruzzaman, teaches at a Qawmi Madrasa, and his mother, Mosammat Kamrunnahar, is a Madrasa teacher. Shifat Ullah brought joy to this teacher couple's home on November 12, 2005. He was the second of four siblings. He started his education at home. He was last studying in the Sarhe Bekaya class at Jamia Islamia Emdad Ulum Madrasa in Sreepur Maona.
Shifat Ullah was always a gentle and polite boy. His dream was to become a religious scholar like his father and serve the religion.
How Shifat Ullah Became a Martyr
Shifat Ullah's father, a religious scholar, dreamed that his son would become a great scholar. That's why he sent his son to Dhaka for education. Shifat Ullah got admitted to Sreepur Maona in Gazipur. He was studying in the Sarhe Bekaya class at Jamia Islamia Emdad Ulum Madrasa there.
On Monday, August 5, the day of the victory of the anti-discrimination student movement, when the then notorious and autocratic Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, fled in the face of the nationwide student and public movement, this witch still drank the blood of many martyrs.
On the day of the incident, two BGB vehicles were going towards Mymensingh. At this time, the protesters stopped their vehicles at Pallibidyut Mor. People started throwing bricks and stones at the BGB members. Then a clash started between the two sides. The whole area turned into a battlefield in an instant. During this time, the protesters detained some BGB members and set their two vehicles on fire. Later, sounds of gunfire were heard repeatedly there. After the clash stopped, the bodies of the injured and dead were seen lying on the road around 1:30 PM. They were recovered and taken to different hospitals. At least 5 people, including Shifat, were martyred on that day.
Relatives' Statements
The father was devastated by the loss of his son, whose dream was to become a great religious scholar who would serve the religion of Allah. The mother was distressed by the loss of her beloved child.
Father Maulana Nuruzzaman said, "On August 5, my son Shifat participated in the movement. My son was martyred by BGB bullets. I could not know the incident initially. After evening, the Madrasa teachers called me and said, 'Your son is a gift from Allah. Allah has taken him. You come and take his body.' We are saddened by the loss of my son. Alhamdulillah, my son was truly a gift from Allah. Everyone in the area was happy with my son's behavior. He would have passed Dawra in three years. His dream was to serve the religion. That was my dream. Everyone was impressed by his behavior. Everyone is saddened by his martyrdom. Everyone regrets that there is no such boy in the area. Allah has chosen him, so He has given him the status of martyrdom. May Allah accept him as a martyr."
Shifat's elder brother Shakib said, "My younger brother was very good and polite. He never misbehaved with anyone. He has been martyred. May Allah accept him as a martyr."
Economic Condition of the Martyr's Family
Both the martyr Shifat's father and mother are Qawmi Madrasa teachers, but their total income is not very high. Shifat's two sisters are still studying. The elder brother is married, and he also teaches at a Madrasa.
