Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Shaheed’s Personal Life Shaheed Monju Mia was born on March 3, 1981 in Joan village of Pirgacha upazila of Rangpur. His father's name is Ensan Ali and mother's name is Sahitan Khatun. Currently both parents are old. Monju Mia came to Dhaka with great hope so that the future of the children would be good. Monju, the father of four children, left the future of the children to God and answered God's call. Just as Israel is unjustly carrying out air strikes and helicopter shootings on the people of Palestine, in the same way, autocratic Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh wanted to maintain her illegitimate power by shooting helicopters. She has martyred hundreds of people like Monju Mia, but she could not maintain her power. If you commit sin, you will be punished for sin. Shaheed Monju Mia never compromised with injustice since childhood. He was always vocal in the movement to establish truth. That is why he actively participated in the anti-discrimination student movement. The love of his wife and children did not keep him at home.
Shaheed Md. Monju Mia: An Overall Description
The world sometimes feels so beautiful, and sometimes it feels so bad. There are times when I feel like leaving this world and going somewhere else. Somewhere where there will be no hatred, no quarrels, no strife. There will be only love, affection, and a quiet environment. Where I can sit alone and think for a long time. I wish I could go to that beautiful place where I can write poetry. But will this beautiful place be found on this earth? The earth is actually very beautiful. But the people here are very bad. And because of them, this beautiful earth has taken on a tragic form today.
Death is an inevitable truth. No one has escaped the clutches of death. It is man's deeds that make him immortal. He remains immortal even after death. He is kept forever memorable and revered on this earth. One such glorious story is of Shaheed Md. Monju Mia, who sacrificed his life in the cause of Allah.
Sheikh Hasina had angered everyone with her long rule. Resentment had arisen among the people due to the corruption, money laundering, and economic downturn at various levels of her government. And politically, all the parties outside the Awami League-led 14-party alliance went into opposition against the government. As a result, Sheikh Hasina became politically isolated. This was also evident in the students' movement.
On Saturday, July 7, 2024, Md. Monju Mia, from his rented house on Joy Bangla Road, Barabari, after hearing the sound of a helicopter, came out of the house with the desire to be martyred and joined the agitating students. There was a great distance between the agitating students and the police. The anti-discrimination student movement was going on peacefully, maintaining the distance. But who knew that the fascist government would kill these people by flying a helicopter bought with the hard-earned money of the people? Such an incident has never happened in the history of Bangladesh, the history of which was made by the autocratic Sheikh Hasina government. Such a heinous massacre is rarely seen in the history of the world. From a distance of 5 minutes from the house, the police started firing indiscriminately at the agitating students and people on the main road. Monju, a day laborer, was shot in the left side of his stomach at the scene by police bullets from the helicopter. When the news came to his wife over the phone, she rushed to the spot. Not getting treatment there, on the way to Dhaka Medical College (DMC), a doctor at a clinic in Uttara asked if the bullet could be removed from the body. Immediately afterward, he was martyred in the ambulance on his way to the DMC.
Shaheed Md. Monju Mia always cherished a strong desire to be martyred. One of the martyrs of the 2nd Liberation War of Bangladesh, Md. Monju Mia of Rangpur, joined the anti-discrimination student movement expressing solidarity with the students. Before being martyred, he told his wife that if he went to the movement and died, that death would be my martyrdom, you will not worry and take care of our children. He tried his best to practice Islam in real life.
An opinion of a person involved in the movement with Shaheed Monju Mia:
Monju Mia was repeatedly telling the agitating people that we will surely be victorious. Because we are on the path of truth. And on the path of truth, Allah will surely help us. This is why, Sheikh Hasina will surely have a downfall one day. As long as we live, we will never tolerate the injustice of the terrorist Awami League. We will remove discrimination from this country. Inshallah.
Cry-laden words of Shaheed Monju Mia's wife:
How will I survive now with my children? My husband did not do any wrong, he was against injustice, but why was he killed? Is it wrong to want the removal of discrimination in the country? Is it wrong to speak against those who are killing the innocent students? My husband spoke in favor of those students, responded to their movement, who wanted government jobs based on merit. I want justice for the murder of my husband. I want justice for those who ordered the killing of my husband and those who shot and killed my husband from the helicopter.
Family status:
In real life, he was the father of three sons and a daughter. Monju Mia used to run his family by working as a day laborer. His wife was a garment worker. Currently, there is no source of income. The martyr's wife is living with her 4 children in a tin house. The elderly parents are also living helplessly in the village.
