Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Father Md. Toyeb Ali and mother Mosammat Laily Begum welcomed Martyr Lablu Mia into the world on January 11, 1980, in the Mollatari village of Haragach Union, Kaunia Thana, Rangpur District. His aging parents were involved in housework. Lablu Mia's occupation was that of a vendor. He was his family's only source of income. He tried to provide for his family by selling discarded items to earn a living.
Description of the Incident of Martyrdom
The 2024 quota reform movement was initiated demanding reform of the quota-based recruitment system prevalent in all types of government jobs in Bangladesh. In this movement, the hearts of thousands of mothers were left empty. Hundreds of unclaimed bodies were also hidden. The bodies of the martyred brothers were burnt by the police league. Many students and people were mutilated. Many activists died without receiving treatment due to the negligence of some butcher doctors. The rude words of many butcher doctors were such that they hurt the hearts of even well-educated people. When the brutality of these atrocities reached its peak, many women, men, farmers, and workers, forgetting their differences, participated in this movement.
One of them was Shaheed Lablu Mia. On August 5, he joined the students at 1 pm in the "Long March to Dhaka" program. When the anti-quota student-people's processions reached near Ganabhaban, the puppet government ordered its pet forces to stop the movement. As part of the "Long March to Dhaka" program, a clash occurred with the police when they tried to block the road in the Uttara Azampur area. The inhuman police force and the tender-grabbing Awami terrorists opened fire indiscriminately. The light of life went out for many in that shooting, including Shaheed Lablu Mia. He was injured by the killer police at around 3 pm and the bullet entered the back of his head and exited through the front. Immediately, risking his life, Shaheed Lablu Mia's friend took him to Crescent Hospital and informed his wife that Lablu was injured. Due to excessive bleeding, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The day after his martyrdom, Shaheed Lablu Mia was buried next to his house at 5:30 pm.
How is Lablu's family?
Shaheed Lablu Mia was the sole breadwinner of his family. He has two daughters and a son. His only son is also physically ill. His elder daughter is married. The education of the two younger children is about to stop due to lack of money. Mr. Lablu Mia's family was going through a lot of hardship. They earned their living from day to day, and after losing him, the family is deeply dismayed.
Memories left behind
Shaheed Lablu Mia was very God-fearing. He used to pray regularly and treated everyone well. He liked to stay with his family. When he went to the area, he used to meet everyone and inquire about their well-being. His family and locals are intimidated remembering him.
