At one point during the movement, the students and the public surrounded the BGB. The BGB fired to disperse the students and the public. Martyr Mazidul Islam Khan was shot at the scene. Background of Martyrdom
On August 5th, the anti-discrimination students and the public announced a program to besiege the Ganabhaban, the safe haven of the murderer Hasina. No one in the country knew what was going to happen today? Everyone was in extreme fear and anxiety. People from different regions of the country had gathered in Dhaka to implement the March to Dhaka program, but no one could take to the streets. However, different things were happening in the inner circles of the administration. The murderer Hasina was preparing to resign, but her henchmen still occupied the streets. They were shooting at any procession they saw on the streets. At around three in the afternoon, during the heated moment of the movement, the students and the public surrounded the BGB from all sides. When the situation became heated, the BGB opened direct fire to disperse the movement. Many young lives were lost in that shooting. Shaheed Mazidul Islam Khan was seriously injured by two bullets in his lower abdomen. Although the injured Mazidul was taken to various hospitals, they refused to admit him. After much effort, he was finally admitted to Swadesh Hospital in Mymensingh. But unfortunately, he died there on August 7th while undergoing treatment.
