The Square Masterbari area of Sreepur Upazila, Gazipur District, was also turbulent with the movement that day. Martyr Tofazzal Hossain also joined the movement. Exactly in the evening, the notorious leaders of the Jubo League-Chhatra League cadre force of the autocratic Awami League government attacked the peaceful and unarmed freedom-seeking student and public movement with sharp weapons. Martyr Tofazzal's Struggling Life
Tofazzal was a vigorous young man of 21 years. They had no land at all. His father died about 20 years ago. The three elder sisters were also married. His family was extremely poor with his mother and brother. Moreover, there was a burden of debt in the family. So, about three years ago, he went to Gazipur with his mother and brother for the sake of food and future dreams. He took a job as a laborer at RK Ceramics Company.
The family was doing fairly well, but the movement for the fall of the government seemed to excite him. So, despite joining the anti-discrimination student and public movement, he couldn't witness the fall of the autocrat Hasina. A day before the fall, the killer Hasina's pet Awami terrorist forces extinguished his life's light with sharp weapons. Tofazzal's marriage talks were underway, but he didn't have the fortune to step into a new life of marriage.
Upon visiting the site, it was seen that his two-roofed tin rented house was locked. His mother, younger brother, and sisters had gone to their respective work. When contacted by phone, his elder sister Aklima Akter said in a tearful voice, "My brother had no fault. He went to a rally for rights, but Awami terrorists caught and hacked my brother to death. My brother had many dreams. He would marry, set up a beautiful family, but his dream remained unfulfilled. Due to providing for family members and marrying us off, the family incurred a debt of about 2 lakh taka. My brother wanted to repay that debt by working, but he couldn't do it. My helpless mother and younger brother are wandering around like madmen with this burden of debt on their heads."
Neighbor Abul Kalam said, "They are very poor people. They have nothing but this house plot. Tofazzal's labor supported the family. His marriage talks were underway. Tofazzal was a very good boy."
Tofazzal's mother, Haresa Akter's crying filled the air. She kept saying, "What happened to me, what happened to me!" No one present could hold back tears at her lament. Crying while wiping their eyes, his younger brother Mofazzal and the locals demanded justice for this cruel and brutal murder.
