Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Martyr Md. Shahriar was a service holder. He has an eight-month-old son. He lived with his wife and child in a rented house in the Mirpur-1 area of the capital. He got married in 2018. The Almighty blessed the martyr with a son, with whom he was always playfully engaged.
Background of Martyrdom
Shahriar was the third of his parents' four children. He was an engineer by profession and worked in a company in Dhaka. The July Revolution started with a call from the grounds of Dhaka University. The call came for the anti-quota movement, and then the call of the revolution spread across the country. The Awami terrorists tried to stop the call, unleashing the hyenas of the Jubo League and Chhatra League. This attempt was thwarted by the students of private universities. The movement transformed from an anti-quota movement to an anti-discrimination movement. This revolution belonged to the workers and day labourers. The movement also belonged to the courageous poet-journalists, social media influencers, and remittance-warrior expatriate brothers and sisters. People of all classes and professions took to the streets, risking their own lives, raising slogans for the liberation of the country and the nation.
History mentions the Conquest of Mecca, and this vast land's history has the Conquest of Bengal. In this journey, we got the Conquest of Ganobhaban - the day Ganobhaban truly became the house of the people. This conquest, or victory against the fascist was achieved on August 5th. Its fuel was the BDR rebellion, Aynaghar. In this sequence, names come up, starting from Shapla to the anti-Modi movement, the destitute oppressed families in the stock market, journalist Sagar-Runi's son Megh, and 16 years of fascist misrule were the fuel of the July Inquilab.
Our injured and martyred warriors were infinitely bright sparks. By the time August 5th arrived, the history of the July sacrifices had already happened. The Hasina government indiscriminately killed thousands of people. Brave activists of the movement were martyred, as were labourers who went out to earn their livelihood, and innocent children playing at home. One of the brave warriors of '24 was Shaheed Shahriar. On July 19, 2024, Dhaka and the whole country were heated up by the anti-discrimination movement. Shahriar had gone to the market to buy daily necessities.
As he was late returning home at the appointed time, his wife repeatedly called him on his mobile phone. Not receiving any response, she informed the martyr's brother about the matter. Later, they learned that Shahriar had been shot. At that time, Mirpur-2 was under siege by police, RAB, BGB, and Awami terrorists, who were attacking the protesters. They fired indiscriminately. Shahriar was shot in the head at approximately 5 pm and fell on the street. Passersby took the martyr to Suhrawardy Hospital. From there, he was sent to the Agargaon Neuro Science Hospital. He was kept in the ICU. He succumbed to his injuries there on July 23 at 7 pm. Later, after the funeral in his village home, he was buried in the local Shankar Chandra Graveyard.
Family Condition
Martyr Md. Shahriar was the third of his parents' four children. He came from a very poor farming family. After his death, his wife was forced to leave Dhaka city. She is currently living with her in-laws, along with her infant son. The family is now in dire straits due to the sudden and permanent departure of the sole breadwinner. The martyr's wife is living a life of hardship and deprivation due to financial constraints.
Relatives' Feelings
Shahriar's cousin, Hafizur Rahman, said, "My brother Shahriar was a very good man. He always responded to people's distress. He tried to solve anyone's problems. He never got involved in any trouble with anyone. He was a gentle, polite, and sociable person. He was involved in various social activities. Last Ramadan, he organized a huge Iftar party in his area." The martyr's father said, "Shahriar was a very good boy. He had no arrogance of any kind. He did not like any kind of rivalry with anyone."
Proposals
Martyr Shahriar has an eight-month-old child. A sufficient monthly allowance is needed for the child and wife's maintenance. A one-time grant can also be given. Giving his wife a job will smooth the path of her future. The responsibility of his child's education can be taken when he comes of age. The martyr's parents can be assisted.
