The Story of the Radiant Martyr Asif
Martyr Asif Hasan participated daily in every program of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the student-public movement demanding quota reform. News of repeated attacks by the police and the autocratic Hasina government's loyal terrorists on the students' just demands and peaceful gatherings was being heard across the country. The movement had then spread throughout the country. Students from every school and college, government and private university in the country had then taken to the streets to protest the government's heinous attacks and student killings. The ripple of the events had spread to Uttara as well. From the beginning of the movement, Shaheed Asif led rallies at various points in Uttara every day and maintained contact with his friends. And he encouraged everyone to join the movement. The day was July 18, 2024. That morning, he and his other friends participated in the movement.
From 11 am that day, he was leading the combined student community of various local schools, colleges, and universities in front of the BNS Center in Uttara. At the same time, he was providing water, biscuits, and cakes to the students participating in the movement. Even in such a peaceful movement, tear gas, rubber bullets, and shotgun fire continued one after another. The news of such a brutal attack on the students' just and peaceful movement perhaps surpasses even the infamous brutalities of history. At approximately 1 pm, the police, RAB, and BGB, equipped with various automatic weapons, opened fire one after another on the unarmed student-public procession. Many students, ordinary people, and passersby were injured. Shaheed Asif was taking many of them to the hospital.
At one point, his friend Shah Alam was injured. Despite his friend's unwillingness, Asif practically forced him to go to the hospital. He himself remained in the midst of the movement. He was still at the forefront of the procession; being at the front of the procession, he became the target of the killer police. He was shot repeatedly, right in the chest. Three live shotgun bullets and countless rubber bullets riddled his chest. Shaheed Asif was injured and fell to the ground in front of the BNS Center in Uttara. Local students and the public quickly admitted him to Uttara Modern Medical College Hospital. After being in the ICU for a long time, finally at 5 pm, the doctor on duty informed them that Asif's journey in this world was over. From now on, he is Shaheed Asif.
