Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Shaheed Raju's father, Md. Abul Kalam Molla (60), and mother, Mosammat Nasima Khatun (58). The martyr's father is a farmer by profession and the mother is a traditional Bengali housewife. Kalam and Nasima, both are ill. There are 6 members in this family. Raju's elder brother, Nazim Uddin, is a Malaysian expatriate. Their family basically runs on his income. Raju used to take care of his parents. He often had to run around with his sick parents. He was the only support of his aged and helpless parents. Who will take care of the martyr's sick and helpless old parents now?
Education and Personal Life
Shaheed Raju was a student of Magura Ideal College. Raju Ahmed passed HSC from Jagdal Sammilani College and got admitted to Magura Ideal College for degree. Theirs was a poor family. The monthly income was only twenty thousand taka. Shaheed Raju Ahmed of '24 could not be regular in his studies due to family financial constraints.
Raju also had to struggle to support the family. Perhaps Raju's family story is like any other family. The martyr's family had sent their elder brother abroad on loan. Due to which there was a mountain of debt burden on their heads. Raju used to live in a mess in Bashbari area of Mohammadpur, Dhaka to financially help the family. His aim was to earn a living by doing small jobs and contributing to his studies and family expenses. He had mentally prepared himself to go abroad like his elder brother. The killer's bullet shattered and crushed the effort to bring smiles on everyone's faces in the family, which was his life's effort. All the golden dreams have faded in an instant today. Who will bring the autocrat to justice? Who will stand by the helpless family?
The Movement of '24
Shaheed Raju's days passed somehow. Meanwhile, the students' movement for quota reform began. Which later turned into a movement of students and the public. This mass movement finally came to a head. The capital Dhaka was then turbulent. The embers were smoldering in the minds of the common people. The students and the public were gunpowder ready for an explosion. The sky and air were shaken with various slogans. All around echoed revolutionary roars.
From the very beginning of the quota reform movement, Raju was active. He used to participate in the movement every day in between work. At one point, the quota reform movement turned into a movement to overthrow the government. After Shaheed Abu Sayeed was brutally shot and killed at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur on July 16, no one was afraid to stand on the streets. They offered their chests in front of the killer's bullets. On the 16th and 17th, many unknown people were shot and killed. The students and the public burst into protest. They said that this movement could not be just a quota movement. Then it will be a betrayal with the blood of the martyrs.
From the night of the 18th, the Hasina government shut down internet connection across the country. A dramatic massacre was carried out by the cowardly police force. On July 19, Friday; the killer Hasina declared a curfew.
The whole country was then cut off without internet connection. No one could communicate with anyone. No one knew anyone's news. On that day, Raju joined the movement wearing a black panjabi. His four friends from the mess were with him. It was four o'clock in the afternoon. Raju was walking on the street to join the procession. Seeing the police car, he started running for safe shelter. While others ran and reached safe shelter, Raju could not. The killer Hasina's assassin police first shot Raju in the leg. As soon as he was shot in the leg, Raju fell on the road.
Alas! Even then, that merciless cruel force did not have any mercy. The police came to Raju like a coward and shot him in the stomach. Raju lay on the road seriously injured. After the killer police left, Raju's friends took Raju to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital with the help of locals. As soon as he was admitted to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared Raju dead. 'Instead of a passport visa to go abroad, Raju's epitaph was ready.'
The Death of Dreams
In the evening, Raju's father was informed about his martyrdom by a phone call from the hospital. Raju probably used to call home every evening after returning from work. On July 19, Raju's parents were waiting for their beloved Raju's phone call. The phone call did come. The phone call brought the biggest bad news for Raju's family. That night, along with his brother-in-law and other relatives, they went to Dhaka and received Shaheed Raju's body. On July 20, after the funeral, Raju's final resting place was built in the family graveyard of Azampur Charpara in Magura district. Alas, life! Instead of a passport visa to go abroad, Raju's epitaph was made. But Rajus never dies. Shaheed Raju will live in our respect, in freedom, in every free air of the country, in the free breath of the people.
