Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative
On the afternoon of August 19, 1988, Badiuzzaman was born. In the village of Bhut Chhara, Kauniapolice station in Rangpur district, he shone like a full moon on the home of Abdul Kaiyum and Bashirun Nessa. Being his parents' first son, he brought much joy to his family. Having a handsome boy as his first child was one of Abdul Kaiyum's greatest life goals. With the birth of Badiuzzaman, that wish was realized. However, Badiuzzaman passed away when his parents were still living. He did not want to go, but the infamous Chhatra League forcibly sent him off. His only fault was that he cooperated with the anti-discrimination student movement, he always protested against injustice, and despite being a garment worker, he always took the side of the students and participated in the movement.
Badiuzzaman, after studying up to the tenth grade at Haldi Bari High School, joined a garment factory in Narayanganj for work. Among three brothers and one sister, Shaheed Badiuzzaman was the eldest of all. As his father was involved in agricultural work, Shaheed Badiuzzaman used to take care of the family. In his personal life, he is the father of a daughter, who is eight years old. She studies in the first grade, staying at her grandparents' house in Tepamadhupur, Rangpur. The martyr's wife is also a garment worker who is currently living in Narayanganj.
Overall Description
The president of the Bangladesh Chhatra League often makes eloquent speeches, claiming that the Chhatra League is progressing rapidly. But practically, adorned with all kinds of misdeeds. However, in reality, the Chhatra League always stands for injustice, against justice. no one knows how any student organization in the world can be so dangerous and infamous. The Awami League finds in this Chhatra League a group of thugs to support all their misdeeds, and they use this force to complete their term in power. When necessary, they attack protesting students and teachers.
On September 26, 2020, in Sylhet, a group of nine, including Chhatra League member Saifur Rahman, tied up a husband and gang-raped his wife, causing a nationwide outcry. Finally, this infamous group has been overthrown, but innocent people like Badiuzzaman have had to give their lives at the hands of the Chhatra League.
The events of that day:
On August 5, 2024, the autocratic Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India at 2 pm. The people of all levels of Bangladesh came out of their houses and took to the streets to celebrate the end of 15 years of oppression and torture. Shaheed Badiuzzaman was also a victim of many oppressions and tortures of this government, so his joy was even greater at the fall of fascist Sheikh Hasina. After many days, the autocratic Sheikh Hasina has resigned. Today is a day of great joy, can anyone stay at home on this joyous day? Today, every person in Bengal has once again tasted freedom. Badiuzzaman was saying to his wife, "Let's participate in this victory procession. Although we live in an independent country, we have been in a state of subjugation for a long time due to the autocratic fascist Sheikh Hasina.
On this day, let us thank God with the common people under the open sky." Badiuzzaman's wife, Aduri Khatun, said, "No, I don't feel like going, you go." Shaheed Badiuzzaman then went out of the house alone. Badiuzzaman was returning home at around 6 pm after participating in the government's fall procession with great joy. Just as he was about to enter the house, some thugs of the Chhatra League grabbed him and took him away. They took Badiuzzaman to their designated room, where they regularly tortured ordinary students, and beat him to death with rods and hockey sticks. Later, at around 6:30 pm, someone called his wife and said, "Your husband is admitted to Narayanganj Hospital. Come to the hospital quickly." His wife, Aduri Khatun, rushed to the hospital and found her husband Badiuzzaman dead.
A garment worker's statement:
The autocratic Awami League government has always oppressed the garment workers. On April 24, 2013, during the misrule of Awami League, more than a thousand workers were killed through the Rana Plaza collapse. It has been learned through the confessions of the rescuers at Rana Plaza that the Rana Plaza collapse case was stayed on the orders of Sheikh Hasina. Earlier, on November 24, 2012, the fascist Awami League government set fire to Tazreen Fashion. 117 innocent garment workers were burnt to death in this incident. In this way, at various times, the Awami League government has carried out brutal torture on the people of Bangladesh like garment worker Shaheed Badiuzzaman.
Badiuzzaman's career:
While living in the village, he used to help his father in farming. In 2003, he got a job in a garment factory in Dhaka. From March 3, 2004, he joined KC Print Limited as a delivery man. Through his hard work and ability, he gradually got promoted and finally became the senior supervisor of this institution. He held this position until his death.
A friend's feelings about the martyr:
Badiuzzaman was my contemporary, friend, and we studied together. He was very humble, polite, and prayerful. He used to participate in every program of the anti-discrimination student movement, and even on August 5, despite being a worker, he went to the procession. He returned home after the procession. While returning home, the terrorists of Chhatra League called him from the front of the house and beat him to death. I want a fair trial of this incident on behalf of his family and the villagers.
