Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

The Cry of a Blood-Soaked August
Martyr Mohiuddin
Serial: 792
ID: Barisal Division: 087
Martyr Introduction
The name Mohiuddin reflects the extraordinary courage of an otherwise ordinary man. A laborer from the remote village of Pashchim Elisha, Bhola, he rose from anonymity to become a red-letter name in the history of Bangladesh in August 2024—marked forever as a martyr who gave his life for justice.
Early Life and Childhood
Mohiuddin was born in a small, humble village under Pashchim Elisha Union in Bhola Sadar. His parents, Abul Hashem Boyati and Mallika Khatun, were day laborers—poverty, struggle, and hardship shaped his earliest years. Orphaned in childhood, he never lost his way. Raised by the values of his village and the love of neighbors and relatives, he grew up to be a soft-spoken, dignified, and respectful young man. “He was very well-behaved,” said neighbors and family members.
Life and Livelihood
With encouragement and shelter from his elder brother Abdul Mannan, Mohiuddin moved to Dhaka in search of a better life. He found employment at a small unnamed grocery shop in Mirpur, working diligently as a shop assistant. His life was guided by honesty and the pursuit of halal earnings. Quiet, hardworking, and sincere—he never complained about his circumstances. He lived modestly, often checking on his siblings and ensuring their well-being from afar.
Economic Condition
His life was marked by quiet self-sacrifice. Though his siblings were married and occupied with their own families, Mohiuddin never burdened anyone. He relied mainly on his elder brother for emotional support, though he asked for little. He lived in Dhaka, but his heart always carried the scent of his village—filled with simplicity, faith, and love for family. Despite having no personal wealth or assets, he nurtured small dreams built on hard work and honesty. Those dreams were cut short in August 2024.
The Movement & August 2024 Context
Mid-2024 brought a new wave of political upheaval in Bangladesh. Demands for the resignation of the government shook the capital. The streets of Dhaka, including Mirpur, were filled with chanting voices and protest marches. On August 5, 2024, amidst a sea of determined citizens, Mohiuddin joined a procession—not for position or power, but for justice and love for the country.
As the slogans echoed and the crowds swelled, police opened fire. Mohiuddin was hit.
How He Was Martyred
He fell to the ground, bleeding and wounded. He was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, but in a cruel twist, the hospital refused to admit him. It was as if he was struck twice—once by bullets, then again by state apathy.
He was later transferred to a private clinic in Shyamoli, but by then, it was too late. On August 6, 2024, he breathed his last—his blood marking the price of freedom. He died fighting not with a weapon, but with his presence, his belief, and his courage.
Burial and Farewell
His body was returned to his beloved Bhola, where he was laid to rest in the local cemetery of his village. Now, that peaceful soil holds a silent hero—a gentle soul who stood for justice and paid the ultimate price.
Testimonies from Loved Ones
“Though he lost his parents young, he was always kind-hearted,” said relatives. “He kept in touch with all of us and never once caused trouble.” He worked hard in Dhaka with the dream of providing for his siblings, staying true to his values.
In the quiet memory of those who knew him, Mohiuddin left not only blood—but love, sacrifice, and an unwavering moral legacy.
Legacy and Reflection
The story of Martyr Mohiuddin reminds us that those who die for their country are not always generals or leaders—they are often ordinary people from our neighborhoods. People with dreams in their eyes, struggles in their lives, and patriotism in their hearts.
Mohiuddin, your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Economic Proposal
In honor of Martyr Mohiuddin and to preserve the dignity of his memory:
• The state and society should provide sustainable financial support to the martyr’s surviving family.
• His elder brother Abdul Mannan, who carried the family burden, must not be left alone to struggle.
• If the family of a martyr falls into darkness, then the martyr's sacrifice becomes hollow. This must not be allowed.
