Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Md. Nabi Nur Morol, an unsung hero of the July Revolution. He joined hundreds of thousands of students and the general public to protest against the oppression of the tyrannical and murderous ruler. He was a fishmonger by profession. His role as a responsible husband and father was unique. He was born on November 13, 1972, in the village of Paikgacha, Khulna district, illuminating the home of the late Md. Karim Morol and Tohura Bibi. He grew up as a beloved child of his parents in his village. Due to the family's poor financial condition, his martyred father could not provide him with much formal education. He then engaged him in various activities with himself. Growing up with his father, he developed a strong moral foundation.
Humanitarian aspects such as rejoicing in the happiness of others and feeling pain for the suffering of others found a place within him. His mother, Tohura Bibi, is 80 years old. She is ill due to old age. For a little happiness with his two daughters, wife, and elderly mother, Nobinur came to Dhaka from Paikgacha, Khulna 6 years ago. He was not sure what he would do in Savar then. Later, considering his financial condition, Nobinur Morol started a fish business on the footpath. Along with his business, he also kept track of the country's news. He worked hard to earn money for everyone in the family and spent it for their welfare. The income from the fish business was not enough to run the family very well. He had an extraordinary bond with his two daughters and wife in the family. He raised his daughters with extreme affection and love. He married off his elder daughter, Nazma Begum (22), to a suitable groom.
After doing business for 6 consecutive years, he gradually repaid all his debts. The martyr's wish was to marry off his younger daughter, Fahima (18), to a good groom. He wanted to build a small happy nest for his mother and wife in Paikgacha, Khulna. He was a worthy father, a worthy husband, and a worthy son. The humane man started living in Savar Dhamrai for his family.
Economic Condition
Md. Nobinur Morol was an extremely poor fishmonger. He was the sole breadwinner of his family. After losing him, his wife has engaged herself as a garment worker. Currently, Nobinur Morol's family is living in extreme hardship.
Background of the Incident
The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement is an organization of general students in Bangladesh. It was formed in 2024 during the quota movement in Bangladesh and led the quota reform movement and subsequent non-cooperation movement. The organization was created on July 1, 2024, and immediately after its creation, on July 8, the organization announced a 65-member committee to make the movement successful, which included 23 coordinators and 42 co-coordinators. At one point in the quota reform movement, mobile internet was shut down from the night of July 17, and broadband internet was shut down on the night of July 18. On Saturday, July 20, despite a nationwide curfew and deployment of the army, clashes, chases, and shootings took place in the Jatrabari, Uttara, Badda, and Mirpur areas. Nobinur Morol expressed solidarity with this logical movement of students and the general public at the beginning of July. Despite being a fishmonger, he was worried and anxious about the situation in Bangladesh in July. Along with his business, he continued to sell fish and participate in the movement from the very beginning. He played a significant role in bringing together his peers and ordinary people in this movement.
Along with bringing people together in this movement, he joined the chase and counter-chase with the police, Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Awami League along with the students and the general public the day before he was martyred. The next day, a protest march was taken out. He participated in the protest march, and there was a chase and counter-chase with the police that day as well. Towards the end of the protest march, around 5 o'clock, police bullets hit him in front of Rahman Market adjacent to WAPDA Road in Savar. He was then quickly taken to Enam Medical. He was conscious there until 9 pm. But despite the thousands of pleas of the martyr's relatives, the operation was not done, and no steps were taken to remove the bullet. Unable to bear the intense pain, he repeatedly told his son-in-law to cut him open with at least a blade and take out the bullet. After 9 pm, he lost consciousness due to severe pain. In that condition, he passed away on July 21 at 2:00 am. Even after his death, his body was not handed over to his family. The martyr's family was harassed. Later, the martyr's son-in-law paid 41,000 taka and got the body released. This fearless martyr was finally laid to rest in his village of Paikgacha, Khulna.

Mother - "There is no other son like my son. He tried to walk on the path of Allah all his life. May Allah grant him Jannat."
