Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative
Savar is one of the major entrances to Dhaka, the capital. From the very beginning of the quota reform movement, leaders and activists of the Awami League's other wings and allied organizations, including the police, Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Shechashebok League, have been attacking unarmed protesters in the Savar area with weapons. The quota reform movement culminated on August 5. Earlier, after the March for Justice program on July 31, the anti-discrimination student movement, which was agitating for quota reform, announced a new program for Thursday. This day's program has been named 'Remembering Our Heroes'. This information was given in a circular sent by Rifat Rashid, co-coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, on Wednesday evening.
How he was martyred
The days leading up to August 5th, when we achieved the taste of historic success and snatched freedom through the fall of the autocracy, were full of sacrifice and bravery. There are many stories where people from all walks of life, leaving behind all adore, agreed with the students and took to the streets. Shaheed Nishan Khan will be a witness of such claim. The man who had the desire to become a father in the near future, left behind his 6-month-old baby in his wife's womb and took to the streets for 3 consecutive days. Shaheed Nishan Khan also participated in the long march on August 5th, the day we gained independence. On August 5th, in the afternoon, Nishan Khan was shot in the left side of his chest while participating in the anti-discrimination student movement rally on Savar Thana Road. He was taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. Later, his body was buried in the family graveyard in Manohar Khadi village of Chandpur Sadar.
Comments about the martyr
His mother's lament, "Nishan hasn't called me for so many days. Why doesn't Nishan inquire about me? I have one son, please bring him back to me. I can't bear it anymore."
Uncle Billal Khan says, "He never quarreled or argued. No one ever complained about him. Everyone was shocked to hear about his death.
