The poem is a powerful expression of the emotions and sentiments associated with the victory of Bangladesh. It highlights the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices made by the martyrs, and it conveys the deep sense of gratitude and love for the country that was born out of their struggle. This is a beautiful and poignant poem written by Md. Sirajul Haque Bhuiyan in honor of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Bangladesh.
Mohammad Ismamul Haque was a warrior who never gave up in the struggle for life. He was born on December 1, 2007, in a poor family in Darjipara village of Amirabad Union in Lohagara Upazila of Chittagong district. His father's name is Md. Nurul Haque and his mother's name is Saheda Begum. He was a struggling youth who came from an extremely poor family. After losing his father at a young age, he took the responsibility of supporting his sorrowful mother. Ismamul was the middle child of his parents among three brothers, who took the responsibility of his two brothers along with his mother on his shoulders. Growing up in a family of scarcity, Ismamul had learned to struggle since childhood. That is why he came to Dhaka and took a job in a cosmetics shop. He used to work hard all day long and tried to send more money to his family. The pain of poverty, hard work and deep love for the family made Ismamul a living symbol of a real-life struggle. But in a cruel twist of fate, he returned from Dhaka as a corpse.
How He Became a Martyr
The anti-discrimination student movement was going on throughout July '24. The students mainly raised their demands through peaceful protests, human chains, protest rallies and seminars. However, in various cases, the movement was seen to become violent, where tension arose between the security forces and the students. Because the autocratic government was running a steamroller of oppression without accepting the just demands of the students. Bullets, rubber bullets, sound grenades and tear gas shells were being thrown at the student public all over the country. Ismamul did not sit indifferently by seeing all this. He also tried to be active in the movement from the beginning.
Above all, the student public called for a non-cooperation movement from August 4, and on that day, the announcement came in the afternoon that there would be a "Long March to Dhaka" the next day. As a result, the country was freed from autocracy on August 5.
August 5 is a very happy day for all freedom-loving people, as well as it is a cursed day for the Ismamul family. On this day, the autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina was overthrown, after which joyous processions started all around. And he expressed his intention to go to this procession. Despite repeated discouragement from the shop owner, he did not listen to it, the joy of independence is irresistible. Ismamul joined the procession to taste this independence. When the procession reached Chankharpool in Dhaka, at around 4:30 in the afternoon, a group of policemen and armed Chhatra League cadres attacked the procession.
Many people were seriously injured in the shooting of the attack, among them was Ismamul. The general public took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. On August 7, at 4:15 in the afternoon, Ishmam left this world while undergoing treatment. Then he was taken to his village home. That night, there was only the sound of crying in Ismamul's house. Everyone was mourning, no one was trying to stop the tears.
The next day at noon, his funeral prayers were held. Ismamul's burial was completed with the tears of hundreds of people. His death created a deep void in the entire area. Because he was not just a young man, he was a philanthropic person. The story of Shaheed Mohammad Ismamul Haque's life is like a tearful irony. In the most colorful times of life, when a young man thinks about his dreams, wishes and family, his life lamp went out before it could even light up. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus, this is the prayer of everyone today.
Family Stalemate
The condition of Shaheed Mohammad Ismamul's family was like "running out of stale food while trying to get rice." Shaheed Ishmam was the only means of livelihood for his widowed mother. To bear the expenses of his mother and family, he took a job in a cosmetics shop in Dhaka at a young age. From what he used to get paid there, he used to keep very little pocket money and send the rest of the money to his helpless mother. But one day, unexpectedly, Ismamul, the only support of the family, was martyred. His death is a terrible darkness for his mother and family. Now they are worried about how they will manage and how they will run the household expenses. Ismamul's absence has pushed their lives into darkness. In this plight, they hope that society will help, so that some light can be brought back into their lives. Ismamul's family will have to go hungry if they don't get financial help quickly.
