Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Md. Osman Patwari was born on April 19, 2002, like the first light of dawn, in the Charmohon area of Raipur Upazila, Lakshmipur District. That day brought a message of joy not only for his family but for the entire village. His birth was like a symbol, where a promising sun of the future rose. Osman's father, Md. Abdur Rahman, was a respected businessman. Besides business, he was a symbol of love and responsibility for his family.
His mother, Rehena Akter, was a renowned teacher who illuminated many children in society with her education. Their beloved son Osman was not deprived of that light either. From his childhood, the sparkle of his talent was evident, as if every page of the book was his friend, every chapter was a new horizon in his world of thought.
Osman grew up in the rural environment of his birthplace, Charmohon. Although his childhood was spent amidst greenery, his mind was towards the sky, towards big dreams. He left his mark of merit by achieving GPA-5 in both the SSC and HSC examinations from Tamirul Millat Madrasa. His parents, the villagers, everyone was proud of his success. With every step, he seemed to brighten his parents' faces. Osman Patwari was a ray of hope for his family and society.
A consistent claimant to the best in studies, this talented young man was a 4th-semester student in the Computer Technology Department of Chittagong Polytechnic Institute. His dream was to become an engineer when he grew up. This dream was not only his but also his family's and the entire society's. They saw that dream of the future sparkling in Osman's eyes, which might have one day become a reality. But that dream will never be fulfilled. That bright, talented young man, who was hoped to one day become an engineer and lead his country on the path of progress, his life came to an end in a cruel hand. But his birth and life are still awakened in our minds as a symbol of inspiration, which will show the way to the dreamers of the new generation.
Feelings of a Close Relative about the Martyr
Shaheed Osman Patwari was my dear friend, whose courageous heart constantly protested against injustice. He was a shining symbol of ideals, who always stood in the face of injustice and bravely expressed his opinion. A great desire for martyrdom resided in his heart, which made him virtuous at every step.
Allah Almighty has accepted his desire, and his soul is now an eternal inspiration among us. Osman's great ideals and sacrifices are our guides, which prevent us from going astray. I, Amjad Hossain, pay tribute to the memory of this great friend, every moment spent with whom is an invaluable gem of my life.

How He Became a Martyr
On Sunday, August 4, 2024, a heartbreaking incident took place in the Titakha area of Lakshmipur, where Martyr Osman Patwari, a heroic student, was present on the stage of struggle. On that day, he had come to participate in the program called by the anti-discrimination student movement, carrying the fire of protest in his chest and the dream of a free society. In his eyes was a dream—a society of equality where one could speak out against injustice. But that day's stage was witness to bloody resistance. The leaders and activists of all Awami League organizations, who were armed, began attacking the protesters with intense frenzy.
Under the leadership of Jubo League President Salah Uddin Tipu, the terrorist force took hostile steps with the aim of annihilation. The protesters bravely resisted, but a large number of bullets rained down on their voices. In this context, when there were shouts and cries all around, a bullet pierced Osman's chest. In an instant, his body seemed to become disheveled, and he fell to the ground. In immense pain, an attempt was made to quickly take Osman to the hospital. But tragically, his life flowed into the darkness of death on the way. The doctors tried their best, but he passed away forever. His death created a huge void for the student community of the country, in the context of an intense movement.
Behind this massacre was the autocratic 16-year rule of the Hasina government, which has plunged the youth of the country into the darkness of death one after another. Murder, disappearances, rape, and corruption—these were the images of her rule. Freedom of speech was only a dream, which remains elusive even today. Brutality is constantly happening to silence the voices of the people. Osman Patwari was a symbol of protest, through his life he wanted to convey—the struggle will never stop. He was that brave young man who fought against injustice with determination. His death is not just the loss of a life, but the death of a noble ideal. Today we are still inspired by the memory of his sacrifice. We know that just as Osman has left us, his martyrdom has created a new path of resolve before us. He will remain a symbol in our hearts, so that we can firmly fight against injustice. His story of bravery will inspire us, and we will follow his path and wait for a new golden day—where freedom, justice, and human rights will be reflected.
