Shahid Md. Nizam Uddin Emon was born on November 7, 2004, in Baklia, Kotwali Thana, Chittagong. His affectionate name was Emon. His ancestral home is in Gani Hakimpur, 6 No. Rajganj Union, Begumganj Thana, Noakhali District.
Family's Financial Condition
Emon's family consisted of five members - his father, mother, two brothers, and one sister. His father was a tailor, and his mother was a housewife. Emon worked with his father in the tailoring shop, and this was their family's source of income. As they were a middle-class family, this income covered their expenses and the cost of education for his siblings. Emon's father dreamed of making him a scholar.
How He Became a Martyr
On Friday, August 5, 2024, Hasina's autocratic rule collapsed and subsequently there were celebrations across the country. Emon was also going towards Laldighi Par to participate in the joyous procession. But the Awami League's armed forces, i.e., the Chhatra League's terrorists, opened fire indiscriminately on the procession. A bullet hit Emon's eye and pierced his head. He was taken to the hospital in a blood-soaked condition, but he embraced martyrdom before reaching the hospital.

Emon's father says, "Emon is my eldest son; I dreamed of making him a scholar. He helped me in the shop to keep the family a little better. He mingled with everyone and was always cheerful." He further says, "I demand justice from the administration for the murder of my son. The killers should be hanged."
