Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative
Md. Imran (21) was born on December 10, 2003, to parents Md. Alam and Jahanara. Being a resident of Brahmanbaria district, he was traditionally religious and protested against injustice. Imran was injured by police bullets on July 17 and died at Dhaka Medical on July 18. The country was outraged by the killing of numerous students and citizens due to the rampage of police and terrorist Chhatra League on July 17. The autocrat's throne shook. It became certain that the fall of the Pharaoh government of Bengal was imminent.
How He Became a Martyr
The Hasina administration had trapped the people of the country in an invisible net for 16 long years. Speaking of rights, speaking of justice, speaking for Islam was a terrible crime. The people of Bangladesh failed several times in movements due to conspirators. Hasina was in India's shelter for several years after 1975. Experts believe that she received training there from India. After the 2008 elections, the Hasina government initially crippled the army by killing 56 of its best officers. Hasina realized that her power would be ensured if she could destroy the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. Taking the judiciary into her own hands, she started killing Jamaat leaders one by one by giving them the title of war criminals. At the same time, she killed and disappeared patriots of the nationalist party called BNP. Others were used in favor of the Awami League by showing them money and fear. The people of the country think that BNP will play a role in removing the autocrat! Years passed.
Every year, after Eid, a declaration of strict movement came. But nothing happened. Ordinary people were killed, BNP leaders hid in their houses. In this way, Hasina solidified her power. Her plan was long-term. She planned to make her power permanent. She would appoint her sycophants and party terrorists to all sectors. Therefore, she brought back the freedom fighter quota, which was banned in 2018. Students were angry about this. They started peaceful movements from the beginning. Terrorist Chhatra League and Awami police severely beat them with sticks. Although the country did not get the correct news due to media control, people of the country came to know the real events on Facebook and YouTube. Martyr Imran kept such news beforehand. He protested against the government's repression. People of the country became protestant due to regular attacks on college and university students till July 15.
They were looking for opportunities to protest publicly. Students called for a nationwide movement on July 16. Md. Imran was aware of the country's activities. Md. Imran joined this anti-discrimination movement on the streets. The next day, July 17, after eating lunch, he went to participate in the movement. He told his mother, "You should not be afraid. If you want to achieve rights, you have to go to the streets. Nothing will happen to us. I will come." This was his last conversation with his mother. He was martyred on the streets by the bullets of the hated police force.
