Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Shamsul Islam (40) was a small businessman. He used to buy garment items wholesale and supply them to Bangabazar in Dhaka. He was born in Ramganj, Lakshmipur, to parents Habibullah and Jahanara Begum. Shamsul Islam died after being shot on August 5. His sacrifice did not go in vain. Sheikh Hasina, the head of the fascist government has fled the country. Bangladesh has been newly liberated.
How He Became a Martyr
The Bangladesh Awami League taught and educated its party workers the heinous acts of cruelty. Or, cruel and oppressive people have joined this party and committed various crimes for 16 years. The rule of law has been destroyed. Money laundering abroad has been a daily occurrence. When the common people were looking for a way to get rid of their unbearable behavior, ordinary students started the anti-discrimination movement against the quota system. Sheikh Hasina planned to appoint her terrorist and sycophant party members through the freedom fighter quota to perpetuate her power. When students learned that the quota system, which was canceled in 2018, was being reintroduced, they started protesting.
As the Hasina administration had suppressed lots of protests in the past, they took this movement lightly as well. University students were beaten by terrorist Chhatra League. When the injured went to the hospital for treatment, the terrorists went there and beat them. The movement spread to various universities and colleges across the country, including Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, Jagannath University, Rajshahi University, and Chittagong University. The controversial organization of terrorists and rapists, Chhatra League, along with the police force, started attacking students and the public everywhere. They attacked and arrested and beat them in houses, messes, and halls at night.
They shut down mobile networks and the internet. They declared all schools, colleges, offices, and courts closed. This angered the people of Bangladesh. Along with students and the public, expatriates also expressed intense anger. Online commentator Dr. Pinaki forbade expatriates from sending remittances. At this time, the government was already in financial crisis due to looting, money laundering, and excessive spending from reserves. Killer Hasina returned unsuccessful from her China tour without receiving any financial assistance. Upon returning to the country, during the press meet, she called the students protesting for justice grandchildren of Razakars, and anti-government processions started all over the country that night. Students chanted slogans – Who are you, who am I? Razakar, Razakar! Who said, who said? Autocrat, autocrat!
People across the country stood with the students. No one cared about the Awami League's name-calling of Razakars and war criminals anymore. Everyone understood that if they spoke about demanding rights, they would be called Razakars. The police played the role of killers in the student-public protests. From July 16 to August 5, thousands of students and the public were shot. They banned Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir and planned a terrible genocide by labeling students and the public as Jamaat-Shibir. On August 4, students and the public resisted and called for a long march towards Dhaka on August 5. Shamsul Islam was a conscious patriot. He was familiar with the oppression and tyranny of the traitorous organization Awami League. He was waiting for liberation. He did not miss the opportunity to liberate the country once again. He stood by the students in the turbulent days of July. He joined the processions. On the morning of August 5, he took to the streets to participate in the long march towards Dhaka. At that time, killer Hasina's order was to shoot at the public. Police and BGB, recruited from the terrorist organization Chhatra League, started killing people like birds to fulfill Hasina's orders. Shamsul Islam was shot in the lower abdomen near Banshpatti Bazar in Shani Akhra at 10:30 am. He was first taken to Mugda Medical College. There, the doctor declared Shamsul Islam dead at 7:30 am the next day. He was buried in the family graveyard in Lakshmipur.
