Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative
Md. Majid Hossain was born on January 12, 2008, in Khagrachhari District. His father’s name is Md. Amin Mia, and his mother’s name is Monowara Begum. He was employed as a vehicle helper by profession.
Context of Martyrdom
Matiur Rahman Rentu was a close aide of Sheikh Hasina. While affiliated with the Awami League, he engaged in various wrongdoings, and due to differences of opinion, he was expelled from the Awami League by Sheikh Hasina. Later, in 1999, based on his own observations, he authored a book titled "I Demand My Execution." The book contains parts that expose the corrupt practices of Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League. It claimed that the assassination of Major Zia was part of a planned conspiracy by the Awami League. The book also stated that Sheikh Hasina would be very pleased upon hearing news of deaths, and that she politicized such deaths. In 2000, the Awami League government banned this book. Although the information in "I Demand My Execution" seemed exaggerated, from 2008 to 2024, the people of the country, witnessing Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, realized that none of the information was overstated. Sheikh Hasina and her deadly terrorist party, the Awami League, from 2008 onwards, ruthlessly suppressed opposition voices through arrests, enforced disappearances, killings, imprisonments in secret detention, and executions. There was no atrocity she did not apply upon the people. Throughout July, when mass killings were carried out against students and the general public, her party showed no hesitation. Even on August 5, when she fled the country, the order for mass killings had been issued.
Md. Majid Hossain was a vehicle helper. He did not understand politics or student movements. He was a very hardworking man who took up a job to bring smiles to his family. He had traveled from Chattogram port with goods to Chandpur district. There, the student wing of the Awami League set fire to the vehicle. Majid Hossain was injured in the fire and was admitted to Chandpur Medical College. On July 25, he passed away in the hospital.
