After being on the verge of life and death for 70 days, Kausar left this world. Kausar Mahmud passed away on Sunday, October 13, at around 10:30 pm while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

What happened in New Market on August 4th
A day before the mass uprising, on August 4, Chittagong became a tinderbox. More than two hundred students and people were injured in armed attacks by the Awami League and its affiliated organizations. Most of them were shot.
As previously announced, by 10 am on August 4, angry students and the public took position in the New Market area of the city. At around 11:30 am, Chhatra League activists, a terrorist organization that destroys the environment of educational institutions, opened fire on the protesters from the City College area of the city. At this time the protesters were scattered. Then the protesters were divided into three groups and took position around Kadamtali, Kotwali and Reazuddin Bazar, and the controversial police force of the autocratic government fired bullets, tear gas and rubber bullets at them.
On the other hand, Chhatra League and Jubo League activists carried out armed attacks on the students who were positioned on the three roads to escape the police attack. At this time, most of the protesters were injured.
Awami League leaders and activists, including Chhatra League-Jubo League, were seen using sophisticated AK-47s, shotguns, pistols, long-range rifles, Chinese axes, machetes and various other weapons. Students were openly shot in the city's Kadamtali, Tigerpass, CRB, Dewanhat, Enayet Bazar, Kazir Deuri and Bahaddarhat. Many of the protesters were stabbed in public.
What happened to Kausar
Kausar Mahmud, a student of BGC Trust University, got involved in the movement from the very beginning of the anti-discrimination student-public movement. He was active in the movement centered on New Market and Dewanhat in the city. On August 4, he participated in the previously announced movement of students and the public in New Market. At around 11:30 am, police, Chhatra League, Jubo League and armed terrorists attacked the students.
At this time, Kausar fell to the ground due to the tear gas shell thrown by the police. Then his kidney was hit by the brutal beating of the Chhatra League. It is to be noted that according to the family's information, Kausar Mahmud was suffering from kidney disease beforehand. The next day, August 5, Kausar was admitted to Islami Bank Hospital in the city. Doctors said that Kausar's two kidneys had failed due to serious injuries. Kausar was on life support at Islami Bank Hospital for two weeks. Later, Kausar was taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka by the anti-discrimination student movement.
