Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

A beautiful, radiant newborn was born on October 2, 2005, in the Uttar Raghunathpur area of Rajabari, illuminating the laps of his parents. His father lovingly named him Md. Sajjad Hossain. His parents, Jasim Raja and Shahnaz Begum, were extremely devout. Their wish was to make their eldest son a Hafiz. For this reason, they admitted Sajjad to a Hefzakhana in the area in his childhood. Sajjad completed his Hefz from that Hefzakhana in the area. After this, he studied at Jamia Qurania Emdadul Uloom Madrasa to get higher education. Meanwhile, his family fell into financial crisis. Then, with the aim of getting higher education himself and supporting the family, he went to Dhaka. Here he got admitted to the government Tularam College. At the same time, he used to learn various types of work for the betterment of his fortune.
How he was martyred
The anti-discrimination movement of students and the public was going on throughout July '24. The students mainly highlighted their demands through peaceful protests, human chains, protest rallies, and seminars. But the movement started becoming violent in different cases due to the attacks of the controversial terrorist organization Chhatra League, student wing of the ruling party. Tension was created everywhere as the security forces took a stand against the students. Because the autocratic government was running a steamroller of oppression without accepting the just demands of the students. Bullets, rubber bullets, sound grenades and tear gas shells were being thrown all over the country targeting the student public.
Thousands of mothers lost their sons. Thousands of children became fatherless and at the same time thousands of women became widows. Among the students, Md. Sajjad Hossain was one of the foremost. In the continuation of this movement, on July 19, a massive clash, attacks, vandalism, firing, arson and loss of life occurred in the capital Dhaka due to the attacks of the police, BGB, Ansar members, RAB and terrorists of the terrorist organizations Chhatra League and Jubo League surrounding the 'complete shutdown' or all-out blockade program of the students. Massive protests, clashes and violence were also created in various districts of the country. In a few days, 119 people were martyred by the brutal shooting of Jubo League, police and BGB. Immediately after this, the student movement took the form of a mass movement.
Along with the students, people of different classes and different professions came down the streets. Whose only demand was to remove the autocracy. On July 19, Sajjad went to Mirpur 10 to participate in the movement after having lunch from his aunt's house. On the way, when it was time for Asr, he offered prayers at a swimming pool next door. Then he joined the rally once again with his companions. The police started baton charges the rally. Sajjad fell to the ground after being hit in the leg first. Then Sajjad's body began to be torn apart by the police's indiscriminate boots and kicks. At one point, when the police shot at his injured body, the life force left his body cage. Sajjad left this world of illusion and went to the afterlife.
How Sajjad was
There is a saying, "A man does not live in years but in deeds," which is very true in the case of Sajjad.
Shaheed Md. Sajjad Hossain was a very religious and sociable person. He used to get along with everyone, big and small. He was an obedient child of his parents. He always thought about his parents. He loved his younger brother very much. One of his fellow brothers said- Sajjad came to Dhaka from the village to learn work and support the family. But fate was not on his side. The killer Hasina's barbaric police took his life. Shaheed Sajjad unhesitatingly gave his life for the liberation of the people of the country.
Sajjad's death has harmed not only his family but also our society. Even today, when his memories touch us, it feels as if he was a brave warrior, whose heart was filled with pure compassion. Sajjad is no longer with us, but his ideals and struggle will live forever in our hearts.
How is his family
Sajjad's family consists of his father, mother and a younger brother. His father works as a sanitary mechanic. Due to this, their family is in a state of hand-to-mouth. For this reason, Sajjad came to Dhaka to overcome the financial crisis of the family and to continue his studies. But the demonic police force brutally beat him to death. The dream of a family is instantly shattered. The parents are in severe shock after losing their young son. There is no one left to buy shoes, glasses, chocolates for the younger brother. His death is a terrible darkness for his family. Now they are worried about how they will manage and how they will run the household expenses. Sajjad's absence has pushed their lives into darkness. In this difficult situation, they hope that society will help, so that some light can be brought back into their lives. Sajjad's family will have to live in starvation if financial assistance is not received quickly.
