Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Chandpur district, the confluence of the three major rivers of riverine Bangladesh, Padma, Meghna and Jamuna. Martyr Naima Sultana came to this world on 25th July 2009 in Amuakanda village of Sultanabad Union of Matlab Uttar Thana, surrounded by greenery, illuminating the family of Golam Mostafa and Ainun Nahar. Father Golam Mostafa is a popular homeopathic doctor by profession. He regularly serves patients at Narayanpur Bazar, located in Chandpur Matlab South. Mother is an ideal housewife. She lives with her children in a rented house in Uttara Sector 9 for their education. She is now in mourning after losing her beloved daughter. This was the brief introduction of Shaheed Naima Sultana. His courage and patriotism are unparalleled.
Brilliant Shaheed Naima
Shaheed Naima from an early age, Naima Sultana had a keen mind. Since childhood, she has shown her genius in a variety of ways. Her intelligence was highly praised by her teachers and peers. In her home village, Naima received her first education. For the first time, she made her parents proud when she sat the PSC exam in 2019 from 155, Narayanpur Government Primary School, and received a GPA of 5.
After that, she got admitted to Alhajj Toffazzal Hossain Dhali High School. Here, in the 6th and 7th grades, she secured the first position as always, demonstrating her talent. After finishing 7th grade in the village, she moved to Dhaka with her mother in 2022, carrying a heart full of dreams. She got admitted to the renowned Milestone School and College in Dhaka. In 2022, the government could not conduct the JSC examination due to the Corona pandemic. In 2023, Naima was automatically promoted to the ninth grade. Until her martyrdom, she was a 10th-grade science student at this school.
Police Shattered the Dream of Becoming a doctor
The dream of the talented teenager Shaheed Naima Sultana was immense. She was always determined to serve the people of her country when she grew up. Her dream was to become a humane doctor and stand by the helpless people. She was inspired by her father. Since childhood, she had seen her father serving people. But the police bullet shattered her dream. Her father said while crying, "My dream was to make my daughter a doctor. She would serve the people of the country. But now, who will I dream of?"
How Naima Sultana Became a Martyr
In July 2024, the Awami government launched an undeclared war against the talented students of this country. The police force fired indiscriminately to suppress the logical movement of the students, ignoring all kinds of rules and regulations. Pedestrians, shopkeepers, snack vendors, hawkers, and even babies in their mothers' arms were not spared from the police bullets. Shaheed Naima Sultana, a meritorious student of Milestone School, was a victim of this horrific massacre.
July 19, 2024. It was Friday. The complete shutdown of students and the public was going on for the second day. The government blacked out the internet across the country and isolated the whole of Bangladesh from the world and attacked the students and the public. After the Friday prayers in Uttara, when the students and the public took out a procession, the police fired directly at the procession. Many people died on the spot. The protesters dispersed and entered the alleys and lanes of different sectors of Uttara. The family of Shaheed Naima Sultana lives in house number 15 on road number 5 of sector number 9 in Uttara. Naima was resting at home then. Hearing the commotion outside, she came to the balcony to see. She witnessed with her own eyes the police shooting at the protesters. Even then, she could not have imagined that, within a few seconds, the police bullet would pierce her forehead. Before she could understand anything, a bullet hit her head.
She collapsed on the balcony. Other members of the family were shocked to see her condition. The white tiles of the balcony turned red with blood. Everyone carried her to Uttara Modern Hospital. She was taken to the ICU. After a while, the news came that the brilliant student Naima Sultana had drunk the nectar of martyrdom. The doctors wrapped her in a national flag and said, "Shaheed Naima is our inspiration. We will forever be indebted to Naima Sultana."
Drama to Take the Body Home
There was severe obstructions while taking her dead body home. The killer Hasina's cadre forces did not allow any ambulance to leave the hospital. Shaheed Naima's body was covered with a flag. The martyr's father and his family were repeatedly tortured by Hasina's henchmen. At one point, finding no other way, the martyr's uncle pretended to be a terminally ill patient and set off from his village home towards Uttara. On the way, he faced the wrath of the murderers several times. Wearing an oxygen mask on his face, he pretended to be very ill. Finally, after overcoming many obstacles, the martyr's body reached her village home. Where is the end of the killer Hasina's barbarity! With the slightest difference of opinion, if there is dissent, the accused person is beaten to death by these devilish henchmen whenever they get the chance. It is more ferocious than a bloodthirsty hyena in human form.
Shaheed Naima Sultana, the Leader of the Movement
Shaheed Naima Sultana was the leader of the movement. She regularly participated in the movement to realize the rights of the students and to build a non-discriminatory Bangladesh. Even on the day before her martyrdom, she participated in the movement with her classmates. She was an artist. Her drawing skills were very rich. In her diary, she drew a poster with the demands of the movement, which read, "Wanted rights, became a Razakar, for you, O freedom" and various slogans. She posted this poster on her Facebook wall and wrote there - "The movement will now be in colors." "Let the quota system be abolished, let the meritorious be freed." On July 18, after returning from the movement, she said to her mother, "Mom, if I become a martyr, don't cry. Just say Alhamdulillah." Naima Sultana did indeed embrace martyrdom, but her mother could not keep her promise. Mother Ainun Nahar is still crying for her daughter every day; her wailing does not seem to stop.
How is Naima's Family?
Naima's family has two sisters and one brother. Her elder sister Tasfia was the happiest when she came into this world. Because after a long time, she had found a playmate. Now, after losing her only sister, she has become disoriented. She always misses Naima at the dining table, at the study table. The only brother, Abdur Rahman, is now nine years old. He has seen his sister's blood-soaked coffin. A kind of fear and panic is still working in him. Naima used to adore him very much as his only brother. He remembers Naima very much. Sometimes he cries with his mother. The elder sister Tasfia says, "Even though my younger sister was like my friend. We used to live together very well. Sometimes we used to quarrel. We used to go out together. Now I miss her in everything. Why did the police snatch my sister from us? I seek justice from Allah."
Naima is Not in Class
Naima no longer goes to class. She will never be seen in class again. She will not be seen in the assembly either. She will not be seen with her classmates in the practical class or in the corridor. She will no longer draw the slogans of liberation in colors. The anti-discrimination scenes drawn by her will not be seen. Her fighting position in the liberation movement will no longer be seen. The eyes and faces of her classmates are touched by sorrow. Their hearts cry for their dear friend. Just a short while ago she was in class, but today she is not. The Awami hyenas snatched her from among her friends. The teachers are constantly remembering her and praying for her, may Allah grant Shaheed Naima Sultana a place in Paradise.
