Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative
Noor Mostafa was born on October 21, 2007, in Islamabad Union of Eidgah Upazila in Cox's Bazar. From his childhood, he was deeply devoted to Islam. He studied at Darus Salam Dakhil Madrasa. His life's goal was to become an Alim-e-Deen (Islamic scholar) and dedicate himself to serving Islam. But with a single bullet's impact, all the dreams of his life were shattered.
Background
The long-cherished dream of his elderly parents was for their son to become an Alim-e-Deen. That he would grow up and take the helm of the family. That, unlike his other brothers, he would not leave his parents alone. That he would take care of his helpless, aged parents. That he would take responsibility for his only younger sister's education and marriage.
A brave and meritorious student of the Madrasa, Martyr Noor Mostafa himself, alongside his studies, also lent a helping hand in agricultural work. Their family life was going well. In the struggle for the just rights of students, he could no longer confine himself to his home after the call for an anti-discrimination student movement. He actively joined the movement. In the final stage of the struggle, on August 5, 2024, a bullet from the police, the active accomplices of fascism, snatched away the fresh life of Shaheed Noor Mostafa.
The dream world of his parents was broken into pieces. His younger sister sees only darkness before her eyes. That brother of hers, who regularly assured her of a bright future, himself has gone to the court of the Almighty. To the presence of his Lord. Just as Allah Almighty takes His beloved servants close to Him, the same happened in the case of Shaheed Noor Mostafa. The burden of the martyr's unfinished work remains on the living. The path to salvation in the hereafter for the living is intertwined with fulfilling this responsibility.
How He Became a Martyr
Shaheed Noor Mostafa was active in the anti-discrimination movement from the very beginning. In the final phase of the movement, on August 5, 2024, he participated in a victory procession with his comrades in the one-point movement for the fall of the autocrat Hasina, in the Shah Fakir Bazar area adjacent to the Eidgah police station in Cox's Bazar. At around 4:45 pm, the Eidgah police fired indiscriminately at the procession. Noor Mostafa was shot there. In a bullet-ridden condition, he was admitted to the nearby Malumghat Hospital. While undergoing treatment, he embraced martyrdom on August 6, 2024, at 5:15 pm.
Family's Impasse
Shaheed Noor Mostafa came from a poor family. His 60-year-old father works as a farmer on other people's land. Noor Mostafa used to help his father in that work in between his studies. He has an elderly mother and a sister at home. The rest of his siblings have already married and left the family. The martyr's father, bowed down by the burden of old age, is doing agricultural work to support the family. Due to lack of money, his younger sister, who is studying in the 7th grade, has stopped her studies. Her future faces complete uncertainty. In this situation, the financial condition of the family is extremely deplorable. The elderly parents and younger sister are living a miserable life. Extending cooperation to them in repayment of the love and sacrifice of the martyr is a matter of faith. Standing before the martyr on the Day of Judgment will be very difficult.
Grieving Locals
Shaheed Noor Mostafa was a very simple, straightforward, and meritorious young man. He was extremely responsible towards his family. He was a 10th-grade student at Darus Salam Dakhil Madrasa. We want justice for his murder.
