Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative
Sad Al Afnan, a symbol of dreams, was born on November 10, 2006, in the Banchannagar area of Sadar Upazila, Lakshmipur District. From his childhood, his eyes held dreams of reaching the sky, dreams intertwined with the light of education and the resolve to do something for society. His father, Saleh Ahmed, was engaged in a long struggle for livelihood while working in UAE. But that struggle came to an end on April 27, when he passed away. With the untimely death of his father, Sad and his family were plunged into darkness.
His mother's name is Nasima Akter. Like a warrior woman, she is going through difficult times with her only child, which cannot be expressed in words. Bearing the sorrows and hardships of the family, she tries to live life anew every day. She is moving forward with the vision of giving her child higher education.
Martyr Sad Al Afnan struggled throughout his life as an HSC examinee of Lakshmipur Victoria College. Among his college companions, he was a symbol of inspiration. But due to tragic circumstances, his life ended, like an untimely farewell. His departure has created a void not only for his family but also in every corner of his educational institution. Sad Al Afnan's dreams and hopes, today seem like a lost tune in silence, but his name will live on in the hearts of his mother, friends, and everyone. Sad is a great martyr today, who lives on through his ideals and consciousness.
Feelings of a Close Relative about the Martyr
Sad Al Afnan was a multi-talented and gifted student, known for his honest character and ideals. This ever-smiling, polite, gentle, and humble young man held a special place in everyone's heart. Everyone in the area was captivated by his smiling face and gentle demeanor. Wherever Sad went, he spread the light of his affection and honesty. But suddenly, the life of this illuminated young man was shattered by cruelty. Neighbors are deeply saddened by his loss. A neighbor named Rajib says, “It is very difficult to find such a gentleman in this era. The nation's asset, the untimely death of such a son, has deeply hurt us. Why did the terrorists kill him? How could they do such a cruel thing?†A deep tone of pain rises in Rajib's voice, as if spreading grief throughout the neighborhood.
The local mosque's Imam says, “I used to stand outside every day after the Isha prayer, but Afnan was never late to finish his prayers. He was the epitome of concentration in prayer; his deep focus and attention on prayer amazed me greatly.†Thinking about Afnan's meditative state in prayer, tears welled up in the Imam's eyes. He knows that Sad Al Afnan's ascetic-like life and devotion were a unique example. Now that he is no longer with us, his memory will live on forever among us, and the beacon of his love and morality will guide our way.
Financial Condition of the Martyr's Family
A shadow of despair now hangs over the family of Martyr Sad Al Afnan. The family's sole breadwinner, Saleh Ahmed, passed away in the UAE on April 27, 2024. After the departure of Saleh Ahmed, who was the family's hope, his housewife mother is now living through intense hardship with her son and daughter. The focal point of all their dreams was that only son, who is no more. His days filled with smiles are now just memories. At this moment, a void has been created between the mother and her children, which has made their lives lifeless. In the deep darkness of despair, they have now become dependent, with nothing but their small homestead. Their dreams have now mingled with the soil, and only a storm of unrest is blowing on the horizon of their efforts.
