Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Ishtiaq Ahmed was born on December 16, 2004, in Dakshin Anandapur village of Fulgazi Upazila, Feni District. His father's name is Nesar Ahammad and his mother's name is Fatema Akter. He has two younger sisters. He studied at Feni Government College. His dream was to support his family after completing his studies and bring smiles to his parents' faces. But the bullet of the Awami government's fostered terrorists snatched that dream from Shrabon.
Background of the Movement
Students are invincible - this is not just in Bangladesh. This success, more than showing a change of government, has highlighted the anomalies of the entire state and social system. In the history of the world, in many countries, student protests have brought about changes in state power. The latest example of this was created in Bangladesh. From July 1, 2024, students and job seekers started protests under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. As a result, the government was forced to resign. The student movement, 'Establishment of Truth and Resistance to Injustice,' is where the excellence of human beings lies. This excellence is seized by the young students and the public generation after generation. A conscious student is the active and effective protesting manpower of the country and the nation. When this young student community conducts a united movement on any logical issue, then, feeling the relevance of their logical demands, Shaheed Ishtiaq Ahmed jumps in. It was never unimaginable that Shaheed Ishtiaq, the idol of the young generation who dreamed while keeping the family's financial hardship in mind, would depart from this world.
A continuous movement started on July 1, demanding reform of quotas in government jobs. This non-violent movement turned violent on July 15. In the movement, armed assassins of the Chhatra League, Jubo League, Volunteer Shechashebok League, and police, RAB members began attacking the unarmed student public. After the martyrdom of Shaheed Abu Sayeed in Rangpur, the movement turned into a mass movement. The quota reform movement gradually turned into a public movement.
Heated Streets
The vote-stealing Awami government maintains its series of disappearances and murders. In the anti-discrimination student movement of 2024, at the beginning of July, they began to play various tricks to divert the peaceful movement of the students. Without falling into any of their traps, the general students continued the movement on the streets. And seeing such determination of the general students in the anti-discrimination student movement, the autocratic government became furious. From July 16, anarchy began on the general students; various misdeeds including disappearances, murders, and killings.
On July 17 and 18, they carried out a massacre in the universities! Hundreds of students like Abu Sayeed and Mugdha were added to the martyr's procession.
On Thursday night, July 18, the autocratic Hasina, who had bloodied her hands by killing students, shut down the internet and imposed a curfew across the country. No one will be able to leave the house except for essential emergency work. If 10/12 people are seen together anywhere, they are being shot without any warning.
Then one day after another passed and the golden sons of Bengal fell in groups like the dry leaves of the Falgun tree. Massacres every day! School, college, and madrasa students took to the streets, declaring solidarity with the university students' movement. The murderous government's cruelty became even more terrible. Whether it is a woman or a man; whether it is a young man or a child; the murderous Hasina's goons do not consider anything. They are killing whoever they can find, however they can. In this situation, the freedom-loving people of Bangladesh could no longer sit at home. Everyone has come down to the streets to protect their children. Now the movement of general students has become the movement of the general public of this country; the movement of the masses. Everyone together called for a new revolution. All the demands and demands have come together and a new slogan has been created, 'One demand, one demand, Hasina, when will you go?'
Now the revolution has started in every district, police station, and village. The fire of the July revolution has also been ignited in Feni of Shrabon. In the movement where hundreds of talented students like Abu Sayeed and Mugdha have been martyred, Shrabon wants to go. Now is not the time to think about whether to die or live.
The bloodthirsty killer Hasina government is shooting at ordinary people with helicopters in Dhaka. A child has been martyred after being shot while looking out the window. The autocratic administration is shooting wherever they see four or five people gathered. Leaders of political parties, civil society, human rights activists, various groups, organizations, associations, institutions, Alem-Ulama, whoever is protesting against this terror of the government, are facing arrests, imprisonment, disappearances, murders, and various humiliations and deprivations. They have filled the prisons all over the country with mass arrests.
On August 4, on the first day of the all-out non-cooperation program against the illegal government called by the anti-discrimination student-public movement for the one-point demand for the fall of the government, there were widespread clashes across the country. The anarchy of the illegal autocratic Awami government seems to have surpassed even the terrorism of the Pakistani forces in '71. It is as if people are witnessing the black night of March 25 in broad daylight!
Seeing this situation, the protesters called for a 'March to Dhaka' program for citizens across the country. Initially, the 'March to Dhaka' program was announced for August 6, but later it was announced to be held one day earlier, on August 5.
Joining the Movement
When the car called Bangladesh failed its brakes in such a way and the passengers called Bangladeshis were terrified; when there was pain, suffering, screams, wailing, and clear signs of certain destruction all around, could a conscious young man, a talented student like Ishtiaq Ahmed sit idly by? Could his heart not be touched? Seeing such barbarity of the state machinery, a socially conscious Shrabon's mind can also be scratched. Because everything is happening in front of him. He himself is hearing the terrible cries of the people, the wailing of a wounded heart. He is seeing with his own eyes how the ruling group of exploiters are indiscriminately killing people. On August 4, 2024, Ishtiaq Ishtiaq Ahmed was actively leading the movement on Mahipal Circuit House Road.
How He Became a Martyr
August 4, 2024, Sunday. Ishtiaq Ishtiaq Ahmed was leading from the front in the protest march on Mahipal Circuit House Road. The bloodthirsty autocratic Hasina's fostered killer group suddenly and indiscriminately attacked the protesting freedom-seeking students and the public. Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League terrorists started firing repeatedly on the procession; in an instant, they became as ferocious as hyenas and gave a deadly bite. Many people, including Ziauddin Bablu, president of Baligao Union Jubo League, and local Chhatra League leader Kalamohan, were firing repeatedly. Suddenly, several bullets hit Ishtiaq Ahmed's head and back. As soon as he was shot in the head, he fell to the ground; and Ishtiaq Ahmed joined his name in the martyr's caravan. Another fresh life was untimely lost due to the heinous barbarity of the infamous Awami terrorists.
Funeral and Burial
Later, the martyr's funeral prayer was held in his own area. After the funeral, Martyr Ishtiaq Ahmed was laid to rest forever in the local graveyard.
How is the Martyr's Family?
Shaheed Ishtiaq Ahmed's father, Nesar Ahmed, is the only earning member of the family. He works in a brick field for a salary of only 16 thousand taka. With which it is very difficult to support the family. Their family is very insolvent.
Shaheed Ishtiaq Ahmed in the Words of Loved Ones
The martyr Ishtiaq's uncle says - Shrabon was very humble. He used to pray regularly, a truthful boy. His funeral was the largest gathering in the history of Feni.
Ishtiaq's friend says - He was a very good-hearted boy; he liked to play sports. He had a very good relationship with his friends. The day he was martyred, he took his mother's orna (scarf) as a blessing from his mother.
