His thinking was to do something for society and dedicate himself to the betterment of the country. He was always vocal about the various injustices and corruption in the country. He had a strong interest in sports.
He was the only member of the family who was illuminated by the light of education. His dream was to build a prosperous and just society, but tragically, he left this world at a young age. This 19-year-old youth lost his life in a police shooting in August 2024.
How He Became a Martyr
The anti-discrimination student movement's quota reform movement began in early July 2024. Students across the country participated in the struggle to build the country on the basis of merit. Shaheed Saiful Islam regularly joined the movement. Although it was initially a student movement, after July 15, it took the form of a student-public movement. The government shut down internet services across the country and imposed a curfew. The police, Jubo League, and party terrorists unleashed by the autocratic Hasina carried out a brutal massacre on the students and the masses. This young man gave courage to the protesters at the critical moment of the country.
As always, on the 4th, after taking blessings from his mother, he left home around 12 o'clock. At that time, a student-public movement was going on in Mohipal, of Feni district. He joined them. On the other hand, the police force and Jubo League terrorists unleashed by the murderous Hasina attacked the students and the public. The police force and the terrorists began raining rubber bullets, tear gas, sound grenades, etc. Among them, he built resistance with the protesters. Suddenly, two bullets fired by the Jubo League hit his neck and chest. He immediately fell to the ground. The protesters nearby rescued him and took him to the hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Financial Condition of the Family
The martyr's family is very insolvent. His father is an ordinary driver who is not able to earn much. The eldest son of the family works in a dental clinic for a low salary. The youngest son passed the 8th grade and is currently unemployed. Both parents are almost insane after losing their child.
