Md. Asif Hossain

Md. Asif Hossain was born in Mir Alipur village, Begumganj Upazila, Noakhali District. His father's name is Md. Morshed Alam, and his mother's name was the late Ayesha Khatun. He was a day laborer by profession. He was active in the movement against the injustices of the fascist Awami League government.

Asif Hossain was a simple and honest day laborer. He was loved by everyone for his simplicity and honesty.
Background of the Movement
In July 2024, students called for a movement against discrimination. When the government opened fire on peaceful protests, the movement spread across the country. Students declared they would not return home without achieving their demands.
Joining the Movement
Faced with the country's dire situation, Asif Hossain's heart was moved. He decided to join the anti-discrimination student and people's movement.
How Mohammad Asif Became a Martyr
On August 5th, facing intense student and public protests, the killer Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled to India. Before fleeing, she carried out a massacre in Bangladesh. Asif Hossain was critically injured by police gunfire in Sonaimuri Thana. He succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on August 15th after 10 days of battle with death.

Asif's family is now living in extreme poverty. They struggle to make ends meet.
Statements about the Martyr
Abdul Halim, a neighboring pharmacy owner, said that Asif was a very good boy. He got along with everyone and never misbehaved with anyone. Fayez Ahmed, the local Union 5 Ward member and panel chairman, said that Asif was a very good boy. Many people attended his funeral despite the floods in those days.
Family's Financial Condition
Asif's family is financially very unstable. His father works as a helper for a decorator. His two brothers work as laborers in a bag factory to support the family.
