Incident Details & Martyrdom Narrative

Child martyr Yasin was born on December 3, 2010, in Ward 5 of Sonaimuri Municipality, Noakhali District. His father's name is Mohammad Hanif. He is a hardworking day laborer. His mother's name is Lucky Begum. She is a housewife. Yasin was the only son born after three daughters, making his parents very happy. His three older sisters were also happy. But he passed away at a very young age, leaving everyone behind.
Yasin grew up in a family struggling with poverty from childhood. His father struggled to support his four daughters and one son. Due to financial hardship, Yasin could not study. After gaining basic literacy from the local Sonaimuri Primary School, he started working to support his family and help his father. He worked as a laborer in various places and gave his father cash at the end of the day. He worked hard as a day laborer from a young age to try to support his family.
How He Became a Martyr
August 5, 2024, Monday. One of the days of victory in Bangladesh's history. On this day, the people of Bangladesh were freed from the 15-year autocratic rule of Hasina. The killer Sheikh Hasina, leaving the people in oppression and torture, fled to India by helicopter. Upon hearing the news of the fascist Hasina's escape, the people of this country took to the streets to celebrate with victory processions. Every alleyway in Bangladesh resounded with slogans, "Sheikh Hasina has fled, has fled." While the jubilant crowd was passing in front of the Sonaimuri police station with a victory procession, the killer police, panicked, opened fire on the public. Shahid Yasin was also part of this procession. Many were injured and killed in the killer police's indiscriminate firing. Shahid Yasin was hit by a bullet and embraced martyrdom on the spot.
How is the Martyr's Family?
Yasin's family is now devastated after losing him. Shahid Yasin was the only brother of four sisters. He left his studies at a young age to work as a day laborer to help his father run the family. This family is a prime example of how much deprivation a family must endure to send a fourteen-year-old child to work as a day laborer.
The heart-wrenching cries of Yasin's mother, Lucky Begum, are moving everyone. She says, "My little darling, what wrong did he do, why was he killed, why did they empty my chest? Bring my son back to me."
The martyr's father, grieving the death of his son, does not want to say anything. He stares blankly and cries.
Jannat's Bird Shahid Yasin
Undoubtedly, Shahid Yasin is a bird of paradise. He will fly as a bird in paradise. He was not at fault. He was an innocent minor boy. The Awami police killed him indiscriminately. They untimely removed him from this world. Shahid Yasin created history by sacrificing his life at a young age for the liberation of this nation. Wherever the history of the freedom-seeking people of this country is written, Shahid Yasin's name will shine brightly over there.
Family's Financial Condition
Shahid Yasin's father is a day laborer. Shahid Yasin also worked as a day laborer and helped his father. The family is a lower-middle-class family. They have a small tin house and a small plot of land.
