Shahid Main Uddin was born on June 25, 1990, in Fulia village, Sonaimuri Municipality, Noakhali District. His father, Abdul Razzak, passed away several years ago. His mother's name is Aleya Begum. Main Uddin grew up in his village. After gaining basic literacy from the local government primary school, he learned to drive to support his family. Until his martyrdom, he worked as a driver.
How He Became a Martyr
August 5, 2024, Monday, was one of the days of victory in Bangladesh's history. On this day, the people of Bangladesh were freed from the autocratic rule of Hasina, which had lasted for over a decade and a half. The cunning Sheikh Hasina, leaving the people in oppression and torture, fled to India by helicopter. Upon hearing the news of the killer Hasina's escape, the people of this country took to the streets to celebrate with victory processions. Every alleyway in Bangladesh resounded with slogans, "Sheikh Hasina has fled, has fled."
While the jubilant crowd was passing in front of the Sonaimuri police station with a victory procession, the police, panicked, opened fire indiscriminately on the public. Shahid Main Uddin was also part of this procession. Many were injured and killed in the police's indiscriminate firing. Main Uddin embraced martyrdom on the spot after being hit by a bullet.
Funeral and Burial
Shahid Main Uddin's funeral was held in his village, and he was buried there.
Mourning in the Family
Shahid Main Uddin has a son and a daughter. The elder son, Sifat Uddin, is eleven years old, and the younger daughter, Ispia Akter, is five years old. Both of them study. Their family is in dire straits due to their father's death. The martyr's wife is very worried about the future of the family. Having lost the sole breadwinner, the family is now completely dependent on others.
The martyr's wife says, "What was my husband's fault? Why was my husband killed? Where will I go with my two children now? I want the killers of my husband to be hanged." In their father's absence, his children search for him every day.

A close relative of Shahid Main Uddin said, "Main Uddin had a good relationship with everyone. He was involved in the anti-discrimination student movement from the beginning, and on the 5th, at 5 PM, he was shot at the gate of Sonaimuri police station and embraced martyrdom at Sonaimuri Hospital."

Shahid Main Uddin was a leading figure in the movement and struggle. He actively participated in every program of the anti-discrimination student and people's movement against the autocratic Hasina government. He led with courage. Until the victory, he fought against falsehood at the risk of his life. Finally, on the day of victory, he embraced martyrdom and departed for the afterlife.
